About this Event

Films may begin with an idea. They get made through relationships. At the London Independent Film Festival at Genesis Cinema, vShowcards presented The Relationships That Get Films Made — an industry event focused on one of the most important realities of independent film: people repeatedly work with people they know, respect and trust. The panel brought together professionals working across the filmmaking process, including Gaurav Hansuk in studio ownership and film finance, Linzy Attenborough as a BBC and independent producer, Michael Head as an independent film director, Audrey Sheffield across directing, theatre and games, and writer-director-producers Samuell Benta, Darren Vukasinovic and Donna Sherifa. The conversation explored how projects actually come together, how filmmakers choose collaborators, why certain people are invited back, and how reputation, reliability and relationships influence who gets opportunities.
